Now that our message is getting into the mainstream media, which all the MPs monitor, the Coalition would like as many of our members as possible to each email all 308 of them.

The Coalition has posted two Excel files for the English and French MPs respectively on Arc’s website so you will have easy access:

And write to them MPs and Senaators in whatever official language you feel most comfortable in.

Please don’t contact all 308 MPs at once in a single email, but instead write a few at a time, as you have time, over the next week or two. You should not send one mass email, for this will give you immediate blocked “spammer ” status.

Your email need not be long, simply express:

1) Your opposition to the change in eligibility for Canada Periodical Fund support that will exclude the arts and literary magazines you love.

2) Ask that arts and literary magazines be exempt from the minimum circulation of 5000 copies per year

3) Say why arts and literary magazines are important to Canadian culture and deserve Canadian Heritage’s support as our ministry of culture.

4) Add anything else you like.

We realize that this is a huge undertaking, but if you agree to take this on, we could have a huge impact. This is one way in which we all can show the government that it is actually governed by and accountable to us.

One final thing: we believe the Excel files are up to date, but if any messages bounce back, don’t worry. You will still have reached most of the MPs.
