By Eric Hill • Jan 11th, 2010 • Category: Contests, Happenings

Earle Birney Prize for Poetry

$500 is awarded annually to a poet whose work appeared in PRISM international during the past year. Poets need not apply; their work is automatically considered by the year’s outgoing poetry editor.

SHORT FICTION CONTEST

A $2000 grand prize is awarded to the best original, unpublished story (maximum 25 double-spaced pages) and the winner receives publication payment in the Fiction Contest Issue! Three runner-up prizes of $200 dollars are also conferred. Works of translaton are eligible.

This year’s judge is Linda Svendsen, author of Marine Life.

The entry fee is $28 for one story, and $7 for each additional story. All entrants receive one 1-year subscription to PRISM international.

Anyone who has taken a UBC creative writing course within the previous two years is ineligible to enter.
