The Hunter and the Wild Girl Awarded City of Victoria Butler Book Prize
Pauline Holdstock was awarded the 2016 Victoria Butler Book Prize last evening for her novel The Hunter and the Wild Girl. Set against the backdrop of nineteenth-century France, Holdstock’s haunting tale of loss and redemption explores the delicate coexistence between a recluse and a feral child on an abandoned estate. The book was published to wide critical acclaim in 2015.
Shadow of Doubt Publication Date Advanced to Coincide with Oland Appeal
Goose Lane Editions announced today that it will advance the publication date of Shadow of Doubt: The Trial of Dennis Oland by CBC reporter Bobbi-Jean MacKinnon to Tuesday, October 18. Publication will now coincide with the appeal of Dennis Oland’s second-degree murder conviction.

The nominees for the 2016 Taste Canada Awards were announced yesterday. Bestowed annually since 1997, the Taste Canada Awards showcases world-class, Canadian culinary writing. Included in this year’s shortlist for Culinary Narratives is Sir John’s Table: The Culinary Life and Times of Canada’s First Prime Minister by Lindy Mechefske.
